Our Story

Longstone Garage was built in 1955 to accommodate the need for extra bus services in the West of Edinburgh. The garage went through a complete refurbishment in 2013 with a large extension built to home the Longstone engineering staff. That same year, three engineering apprentices buried a time capsule in the Longstone grounds, which will offer the future staff at Lothian a glimpse of the past when its unearthed in 50 years.
Today, Longstone is home to over 650 colleagues including drivers, engineers, traffic and catering teams. There are over 220 buses operating out of the garage and the location plays host to Lothian’s training school, where the drivers of the future learn the trade.
