Staff Manager Vacancy

We are looking for a dynamic individual to join our management team as a Staff Manager at one of our City Garages.

This is a key operational management role, which, in conjunction with the Traffic Manager, will provide appropriate levels of management coverage throughout a week.

Key Activities

You will work closely with the Desk Supervisory Team to ensure that all Duty Allocation System (DAS) requests are reviewed and actioned.  This would include holiday and swap requests together with unplanned changes on the day. You will also be responsible for running weekly compliance reports on drivers’ hours to ensure accurate recording with correct payments, liaising with Payroll as necessary.

As a member of the garage management team, you will work to set, develop and deliver the strategic direction of the garage as well as regularly reviewing operational delivery and challenging existing operating practices and procedures to ensure that best practice is applied consistently across the business.

As a people manager you will need to act as a visible and credible leader for the Desk Team to ensure effective communication and engagement with staff at all levels and ensure all staff conduct and discipline matters are dealt with fairly and consistently and in line with the recognised company procedures. You will take a key role in supporting, processing and investigating incidents and customer complaints, progressing accordingly i.e. corrective advice, formal action and/or refresher training. You will also build key relationships with the garage trade union representatives on a wide range of employee issues e.g. employee engagement, absence and discipline.

About You

You will have previous supervisory experience and experience of managing shift patterns for large groups of people, including a good understanding of Working Time Regulations along with strong people management, leadership and communication skills. You will be able to demonstrate resilience and flexibility and manage unforeseen changes and setbacks accordingly.

You will work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday and a level of flexibility is required.
