Young Drivers Event 2024

Last week, Lothian took part in the Edinburgh Young Drivers event at the 02 Academy, promoting safe driving and road awareness to sixth year pupils from schools across Edinburgh.

The event returned for the first time since 2019 and was well attended by pupils who have already started driving lessons or are considering getting their driving licence.

After a road safety presentation from Police Scotland, the pupils were invited to visit the many organisations taking part in the event which included Scottish Fire and Rescue, the Scottish Ambulance Service, Edinburgh Trams, Digby Brown and Cycling Scotland.

Led by George Brown from our Training School and Central driver Ryan Kennedy, the pupils visited our double decker bus to discover more about our drivers’ blind spots and to ask any questions they had about sharing road space with our vehicles.

The pupils engaged with our team and gained an appreciation of the role of a bus driver, as well as a reminder of the importance of being aware of everyone on the roads while driving.

The event was a resounding success, and Lothian is delighted to continue to work with our key partners to promote road safety, ensuring safer streets for all.
