Message from David Cameron, Head of Operations

Colleagues,

Across the next few weeks, we will be rolling out a ‘Stop Bridge Strikes’ campaign across the business.

As all of our operational colleagues will be aware, drivers are legally required to know the height of their vehicle no matter what type of vehicle they are driving, as well as ensure the bus is safe for the route they are operating.

To assist all driving colleagues, we have updated our Low Bridge Awareness Guide to highlight the locations of low bridges on or near our service routes, the risks and consequence of bridge strikes, as well as the actions everyone should take to avoid such incidents.

To coincide with the roll out, a week of activity will take place across our garages, led by our garage management teams. As well as presenting drivers with a copy of the Low Bridge Awareness guide when they sign on, we will be engaging with our teams around their knowledge of the low bridges on our routes via an interactive activity.

Drivers will also be given new ‘Take Control’ assistance card, with updated advice for drivers in the event on any incidents while they are behind the wheel. An updated copy of the Navineo Driver Console Guides will also be available to colleagues.

Please take time to read both guides carefully and speak with your garage team if you have any questions. All guides are also available to download on MyLothian and via the QR codes around the garages.

Thank you for your cooperation.

David Cameron
Head of Operations
